Xmas Coloured Boxes!

November 30th 2011

This week I am a Guest Designer at the Friendship's Garden Challenge Blog and they have a great photo inspiration for you to base your entry on so make sure you visit the site to "check it out"!

I've created 3 little handmade boxes using the colours from the photo - I used a box I already had to make the template but there are lots of little box templates around!

I've used patterned paper, textured paper, hessian type ribbon, some braid, other embellishments, a cute little collage image and some great Spellbinder flower die cuts!

These little boxes are perfect for that special "little" xmas gift!!

I can't wait to see what everyone creates! But remember this new challenge blog does NOT allow the use of stamps!!!

Six White Boomers, Snow White Boomers.......

November 29th 2011

What a great new theme at the Fashionable Stamping Challenge Blog - "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas". Now as you all know I live in Australia and you would think the only way I would get a White Christmas is by dreaming it BUT what you wouldn't know is we have a great Australian Christmas Carol "Six White Boomers" ("boomers" meaning KANGAROOS!!!!) soooooo I made my Christmas card using a fantastic Kangaroo Rubber Stamp I purchased a very long time ago and I stamped out "6 boomers" on metallic white paper and fussy cut them and arranged on my card front.

I've used Copic Markers to colour just the "Kangaroo Paw" Flowers they are holding and I've added a Merry Christmas Sentiment to finish it off. It was a bit hard to photograph the metallic white finish of the card  but hopefully you can still see what I was trying to achieve.

Below is the chorus of the song and if you click here you can see the rest of the words:

Six white boomers, snow white boomers,
Racing Santa Claus through the blazing sun.
Six white boomers, snow white boomers,
On his Australian run.

I hope you all appreciate my "interpretation" of the Fashionable Stamping Theme created to suit my Christmas "Climate"!!

It's Tea Time!

November 26th 2011
What a great new theme at The Octopode Factory Challenge Blog this week - Anyone For Tea??

I've used one of the first and favourite images I purchased from Lily - "Steampunk Violet" - I just love her hairful of clocks LOL!!

The collage background uses images from some great freebie sheets from Freubels Freebies - these little tea cups and jugs and plates were just perfect for the effect I wanted on this card - thanks Rian (she has a great blog with all sorts of goodies)!

And you know at my house it is always tea time!!

A Traditional Red & Green Challenge!

November 24th 2011
Our new challenge at Art With No Boundaries is a colour challenge! Perfect for Xmas BUT you don't have to make a Xmas creation - it can be anything as long as it's red & green!!

I've made this card with a brand new CS Designs image "Priscilla's Winter Play Time" - Isn't she gorgeous?? And although here in Australia it's HOT at Xmas I still loved making this "wintery" image Xmas card.

I used  the November Challenge Sketch from the CLP Challenge Blog to "arrange" the elements on the card. I wanted to achieve a bit of a vintage type look hence the patterned papers with an aged look. I embossed a piece of green card with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and "wiped" it with a white ink pad.

New Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge

November 23rd 2011
Our new challenge at Wicked Wednesday is "Books & Reading" and our sponsor is Michelle Perkett Studio.

I've had a bit of fun with this image and have added a quirky sentiment and poked fun at E-books which are all the rage at the moment. LOL I don't have one - I prefer to read a real book!! I've also used a text patterned background from my 6 x 6 Basic Grey "Out of Print" pad. I've coloured the image with Copic Markers.

We would love to see your creations for this theme so get creating and link up to our blog. Remember you can win this great image from Michelle.

Another Flower-ful ATC!

20th November 2011

I'm just sharing another little "Flower-ful" ATC to remind everyone there is still time to enter our ATC Challenge at the Wicked Wednesday blog!!

This ATC uses another of Megan's Dilly Beans digital stamps. This little angel has been coloured with Copic Markers and mounted on some embossed vellum and the little "Priceles Moments" ribbon added to the bottom!

We would love to see your creations!!

Things with Wings

November 19th 2011
As you can see this is the new theme for The Octopode Factory Challenge Blog for this week and guess what???? I'm a Guest Designer for this week!!! I'm so excited Lily asked me.

Here's what I made for this challenge - a little fabric wall hanging using "Tinkerbell" and some Butterflied from Lily's range of digi stamps. I made the sentiment myself. Everything has been printed onto fabric and coloured with Copic Markers and then I've hand sewn all the bits and pieces together!

I just love to make fabric creations!

Hope you can join in this week's fun challenge - make sure you check out The Octopode Factory Etsy Store if you don't have any images!

I'm also linking this up to the new Soartful Challenge which has a "Sew Pretty" theme and as this is all fabric and "sewn" together it fits the new sewing theme perfectly!

November 16th 2011
Our new theme this week at the Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog is "Flower-ful" and our sponsor is Megan from Dilly Beans. If you haven't seen any Dilly Beans stamps make sure you have a peek - there's a great range available!

I've made my ATC from Fabric and have coloured the image with Copic Markers and edged it with embroidery thread.

We would love to see what you can create so make sure you link up to our blog before next Tuesday. And make sure you check out what the rest of the DT have done with this Dilly Beans image.

Remember by entering you have a chance to win this gorgeous "Framed Rosie" image from Dilly Beans!

Xmas "Icicles"

November 9th 2011
The new challenge at Art With No Boundaries starts today and the theme is "Angels/Wings" - now you can make it Xmas theme if you like but as long as it has an Angel or something with wings anything is okay!

I decided to make some Xmas "Icicles" using a brand new image from CS Designs "Angeline" - isn't she gorgeous? I found the template for the icicles at Mirkwood Designs - they have some great templates to choose from. These were really easy to make and I love the look of them - I think I will fill them with lollies and add them to the tree this year!

We would love to see your Angel/Wings themed creations - you have a fortnight to link up to our challenge blog!

In Times Gone By

November 10th 2011

The Fashionable Stamping Challenge Blog has a new theme of "In Times Gone By". And as these challenges require "real" stamping and not digis I've made a Gesso Resist Background for my Vintage Style Collage image with rubber stamps. The "Best Wishes" wording is also rubber stamped using letters from an alphabet set.

The "woman" image is from a Dezinaworld collage sheet.

Angelic

November 9th 2011
The theme for our new ATC Challenge at Wicked Wednesday is "Angelic"!

This week we are sponsored by Just Some Lines and you can have the chance to win this cute little angel image just by creating an ATC with this theme and linking to our Blog!

My ATC is strips of torn paper and some little "letters" to spell "angelic" and a gold star brad - I printed the Just Some Lines Angel image directly onto some patterned paper and "tore" around her to add to the ATC.

Animal Farm

November 8th 2011
This month's theme at Gingersnap Creations is "On the Farm" - a great theme as I lived on a farm for quite a few years. The new Chestnut Theme Challenge is "Farm Fresh" and I've created this card especially for the challenge - LOL they are drinking "freshly" poured glasses of wine!!!

As soon as I saw the "farm" theme I thought of the George Orwell Novel "Animal Farm" where the pigs take over LOL!!! So my card shows the farm pigs "celebrating" their new found "status"!!!

All animals are equal,
but some are more equal than others.
George Orwell, Animal Farm, Chapter 10

The "pigs" image is from the Phenomenon 1859 Store at Etsy.

All Sewn Up at Take a Word

November 7th 2011

I'm a guest over at Take a Word this week and the theme is "Sewing" - one of my favourite things to do!!! So I've created this little needle case using a great images from CS Designs using my sewing machine.

I wanted a real sewn "look" so I've left bits of thread hanging and have left the raw edges to fray! I've sewn strips of muslin onto the Mummy image to look like she really is wrapped up LOL!! I printed the "all sewn up" wording and added a cute scissor charm.

Inside are 2 "pages" of felt for storing needles and fancy pins!

Hope you like my creations for Take a Word this week!!

And Wishes Do Come True

November 5th 2011
Happy Pink Saturday to everyone and thanks yet again to Beverley for hosting this great weekly event!

This week I have used some collage images from one of my favourite Etsy Stores - Art Tea Life. I've used scraps of pink and text paper and also a swirl rubber stamp. I just love to create with "PINK"!!!

Dementia!

November 3rd 2011

Here's a new card made for the current Forever Night Challenge - "Flowers". I've used this amazing new design from Chris at CS Designs "Dementia" - perfect for the Forever Night theme. The sentiment is also from CS Designs.

I decided I wanted to use white plus nice bright colours so I've coloured her with bright coloured Copic Markers and added bright coloured backing card, butterfly punchies, matching coloured skeleton leaves and a nice white flower with purple brad in the centre.

Am I late?

November 2nd 2011
What a great theme this week at the Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog!!! Our theme this week is "Alice" and who doesn't love Alice in Wonderland??

The image on my ATC is from Tiddly Inks - isn't she gorgeous? Remember you have the chance to win this image so make sure you link up your ATC creations!

The background of my ATC has been embodssed with a Cuttlebug "Clockworks" embossing folder and then rubbed with a white ink pad. I've coloured "Alice" with Copic Makers and added the text and also a little butterfly to finish it off!!

We had some great entries again last week and would love to see what you can come up with for our Alice theme - I'm sure you all have some images that you can use!!

We loved with a love that was more than love

November 1st 2011
Gingersnap Creations have had some great challenges for the month of October with Edgar Allan Poe a feature! And for this Colour Challenge of Black & Greys I've made an altered caoster.

I've used images from a collage sheet from The Octopode Factory - the same sheet as my Raven Tag but this time I printed the sheet in grayscale so they suited the colour theme.

I've used a coaster covered with black & white paint dragged together to make black & grey colours and I've made a little torn paper background for the images as well. I've added some black tulle, some skeleton leaves, a flower which I rubbed a grey ink pad over with a little heart brad and I added the quote by Edgar Allan Poe:

We loved with a love that was more than love.

I've made the coaster into a little hanging by adding some fancy ribbon to the top. I love how this turned out - I think the black & grey colours are very effective.
