You can turn the World on with a Smile!

June 27th 2018

I have two creations with the "That Girl" digi set available from Vera Lane Studio @Etsy to share today! And I'm entering this first journal page in the current "Q is for Quote" challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog!

Page background is acrylic paint, stencilling, gold doiley and washi tape and "That Girl" and quote is from the digi set! Do you remember the TV show? Marlo Thomas was gorgeous!

I also made an ATC for the current "TV Show" themed trade at the Vera ane Studio Facebook Group! I used left over dry embossed pieces of card to make a patchwork look backing and added the Gal to the front!

Brown Eyed Susies....

June 24th 2018

Some cute new flower gals from Vera Lane Studio released last week "Brown Eyed Susan" - love them!!!!

Sharing 2 journal pages I've made with these quirky and cute gals. Firstly a very pink coloured one - of course my fav colour! Page background is ink spray paper towel used for "mopping up" the excess - always looks amazing when used as a background base. Added muslin cloth and washi tape. Wording is also from the new set.

This next page in my mini journal has an ink embossed background along with strips of ink coloured paper. The "Shine" wording is from a collage sheet by Art Tea Life. Image coloured with copic markers. this dig was printed on linen finish paper which doesn't allow the copics to blend as well but I always love the effect and rich finish.

A Mermaid Living Her Dream....

June 23rd 2018

Pop over to the Blank Page Muse Stamps Blog to see how I made this mermaid tag!! Stamp is one of Rick St Dennis' mermaids "Misty" and is a gorgeous and detailed stamp to create with available at the Blank Page Muse Store!

A Splash of Colour....

June 16th 2018

Sometimes all you need is a little Splash of Colour!

This page is just perfect for the new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Blog with the theme of "Q is for Quote" - I love to use quotes and wording on my creations.

This journal page is the "back" of a page which I did some machine stitching on for effect - it's always a perfect way to get some texture and interest on the page behind! I didn't add a lot of colour to the background as I used precoloured stems and circles from Vera Lane Studio to make the pretty flowers and a gorgeous "girl" from the Rain or Shine digi set  which I coloured with Copics.

Beach Fun!

June 15th 2018

A fun beach themed tag created for this months challenge at the Rubber Dance Blog - they have a colour theme which I tried to follow and an alternate "tag" theme which is what I have done.

Collage image is by Art Tea Life and background "netting" and "starfish" stamps along with the "beach fun" words are from the "Retro Beach" Rubber Dance set available in their store.

Tag background is old book pages, gelato crayons and the Rubber Dance stamps. I added some fibre to the top, muslin cloth under the collage bathing beauty and finally the wording.

Blank Page Muse Challenge: Let's Go To The Beach!!!

June 9th 2018
Something fishy going on here.........

Nearly time for the new challenge theme at the Blank Page Muse Blog and this time our theme is the "Let's Go To The Beach" - fab theme for those where it's Summer but also great for me here in Oz - makes me feel a bit warmer as it's Winter here LOL!

I've made some Artist Trading coins which are all the rage at the moment and below is a quick step by step pictorial for you on how I made them:

Firstly I cut out my 2.5 inch circles - I had a ribbon role with a cardboard top and bottom which were 2.5 inches round so I used one as a template. And I used some recycled cardboard on hand from a carton of beer of all things LOL which I used to cut my circles from.

I added a layer of Gesso with a spatula to have a base for colouring them.

Next I used Gelatos in various colours to colour over the Gesso backgrounds - I coloured them, spritzed with water and used my finger to blend the colour.

Once dry I stamped with Blank Page Muse Stamps and black Archival ink. I used various "sea" themed stamps including an anchor and 2 sea shells - all available at the store either individually or as part of the nautical themed sets.

I printed some collage images - couldn't resist using these quirky fishy themed kids from Lisa's Altered Art - they are perfect!!!!

I fussy cut the collage images and adhered to the coin bases with a piece of muslin cloth.

Next I added embossing fluid to the edges of all the coins and "rolled" in Black enamel embossing powder and heated - love the effect and the black is so glossy!

And all done - love how they turned out!

I'm also linking these creations up at the following challenges:
Catch the Bug Challenge Blog for their "Make a Splash" theme - I think these kids are making a splash with their fishy friends!!
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge Blog - Anything Goes theme for kids - perfect fishes for kids LOL!!
Also at the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies - where you have to add a critter to your creation which does include critters with fins!!!

Green Around the Gills.....

June 3rd 2018
Entering this quirky journal page at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Blog for this fortnight in the "Y is for Yummy" challenge!!!!!

Digi stamp is by Bloobel Stamps - make sure you grab any digis you want as sadly Bloobel is closing down later this month! This digi is called "Bake me a Cake Cook" - perfect for this fishy page and feeling green around the gills and perfect for the challenge!!! Fish collage images were freebies from Freubels Freebies from many years ago - quirky fish to match the quirky digi LOL!

I love the textured background I created for this page - a bit messy but yummy and fishy!!!

Angelic Cherub...

June 2nd 2018

A quick post today to share this layered/collage style altered index card made with book pages and left over bits of patterned card. I also added some old braid and muslin cloth and finished with the "cherub" cut out! Love the vintage feel. Sometimes it's nice to get a creation completed quickly and be able to sue all your scraps and bits and pieces!

Indulge Yourself.....

June 1st 2018

Made quite some time ago - LOL still trying to clear my backlog of draft posts from creations made!!! This image is by Bloobel Stamps (store is closing today) - great quirky and fun digis to create with!

Have to love this digi - who wouldn't like a dip in some ice cream?? Background is melted crayons and white puff paint. Image coloured with pencils and fussy cut and as you can see I added white puff paint to the ice cream in the cone. Wording is computer generated! Indulge Yourself!
