Chloe and her Magic Wand!

April 10th 2011

I have made this card especially for the latest Magical Monday Challenge Blog which has a theme of 'Magical Pearls and Swirls' and a requirement that a 'Magical' Image be used on the card. I have used one of the cute 'Chloe Faerie' images from CS Designs.

I have handmade the back ground paper based on a 'tutorial' from Janna Werner about making artsy backgrounds. I used a piece of patterned paper and spread a thin layer of gesso over it with a credit card then stamped a grid style stamp over it and added swirl stamps to two sides of the paper. I've added little pearls to the swirls and little diamantis to Chloe's wand and shoes as well as glitter to her wings! I've cut out around the image and mounted it on two different coloured circles. The sentiment is a rub on.

I have also entered this card at Card Makin Mamas "embellished" challenge! Stamptacular Sunday have a 'girls & swirls' theme this week! The Flutter by Wednesday Challenge Blog have a challenge using a butterfly, fairy or angel image! Dream Valley Challenges have a "things with wings" challenge so Chloe has flown over there too!

CS Designs "Asian Geisha" Decorated Notebook

March 20th 2011
This is my latest CS Design creation using the digi titled "Framed Geisha 2" - isn't she beautiful?
I have completely recoved this notebook as it had a very shabby looking cover. I've used Japanese washi paper to cover the entire notebook and have added some blue patterned Japanese paper to put across the corners and to mount the image on. The image has been coloured with Copic Markers of course and I've added some other little embellishments to finish it off!
I have used the current sketch  from the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge blog which I thought worked really well with this notebook.

And a close up of the image:

Bugaboo "Dottie" Tri Shutter Card

February 16th 2011
As you can see I've been very busy over the last few days making cards and have another one to share! This is another Tri Shutter card for the new Bugaboo "Catch the Bug" Challenge Blog which requires a "Different Fold". The papers I have used on this card are from a new 6 x 6 pad I recently purchased from the BasicGrey range called "Pyrus Paper Pad" - I love these colour tones something a bit different for me! The little charm doesn't show up that well but it says 'celebrate'.

The new Stamptacular Sunday Challenge has a theme this week of  "Lovin from the Oven" so as Dottie is holding her freshly baked cupcake I thought this card would suit their challenge as well!

CS Designs "Expressive Hearts"

February 7th 2011
These cute little ornaments were made with card and 2 of the Expressive Hearts range of digi stamps from the wonderful Chris Stern of CS Designs. Make sure you pop over to her store and get some in time for making some Valentine's Goodies! You can also check the other DT members Blogs (listed in my sidebar) for more ideas on using these gorgeous hearts!
These are made with 6 squares of cardboard - four printed pieces with the Expressive Hearts then scored, folded and stuck together. They have a ribbon hanger and one has a tassell and the other some silver charms hanging from the bottom. I think they are really cute!

I first made this type of ornament at my local stamp group where a very clever lady called "Rosie" (who loves to make boxes and the like) taught us how to make them - I don't know where she got the pattern from. We just used patterned double sided card which was a bit easier than printing an image onto the card and getting it in the right sport for scoring and folding!

I have entered my litte ornaments in this weeks Spot Challenge at Dezinaworld as a "charming" item (I have used charms dangling at the bottom of one of my ornaments) and also the new Stamptacular Challenge has a "hearts gone wild" theme. The Do You Stack Up Challenge Blog has a "Red Hot" theme so I have entered my ornaments on their site too!
