Blank Page Muse: Time Flies

February 18th 2024

Today I am sharing a mixed media journal page using stamps available in store plus collage image and stencil from my stash.

Stamps used:
Dragonfly by Pam Bray Designs
Time Flies Word Stamp

I had a page in my journal that I had painted with excess paint so I decided to finish it off with a Steampunk theme.

I added texture paste through a stencil and once dried I painted over the texture with Lindy's Magicals.
I stamped the little cogs/gears stamp over the background. I added embellishments, bits of washi and book page along with a fab Steampunk Cutable image from my local scrapbook store click here!

Blank Page Muse Stamps: I Think I'm Having a "Light Bulb" Moment!

24th August 2021

Today's mixed media journal page for Blank Page Muse combines collage elements and rubber stamps. The fab Steampunk themed gal is a collage image by Debbie Kerkof of Xquizart - you can find her digital elements HERE AT ETSY.

Rubber Stamps used are: Incandescent Light Bulb and Steam Bicycle available at the Blank Page Muse Store along with hundreds of other fab rubber stamps!

I started by creating my background page in one of my art journals. I had a page that had some "excess" paint swiped over it so that gave me some background colour. I added some patterned tissue paper with matt medium.

I used the "Steam Bicycle" stamp to create some background pattern. I also stamped the "Light Bulb" on white card, coloured and fussy cut to use.

I added some embossing paste through a stencil and added metallic embossing powder.

I arranged all my elements along with the Collage Gal and computer generated wording and adhered everything to the page background. I used cotton to make the light bubs look like they are hanging!

I love how this page turned out!

Blank Page Muse Stamps: Salty Steampunk!

8th August 2021

We have a fun "Steampunk" theme over at the BPM blog this month so I've made a fun card using a stamp designed by Deadseatoons! Love this Top Hat Nautilus Character from the "Midnight Collection Creepy Cute Sea Art" set he is perfect for my Steampunk themed card with his top hat and monocle! Sentiment stamp "Follow Your Heart" is also available at the BPM Store along with the small Cogs and Gears stamp used on the background.

This card was quick and easy to make - started with a base card and created a border with painters masking tape - you know the sort that peels off!!!

I used a spatula to cover the square inside the masking tape. Once the paint was dry I stamped the small cogs and gears stamp and then removed the tape to reveal the painted square! Love the affect!

I stamped the Nautilus Shell and wording on card and coloured with Copics and fussy cut.

I grabbed a few embellishments - fishing net, fishing line "bits" and some ink dyed muslin cloth and arranged on the card base.

Bird Man and Guy with Wings!!!

July 12th 2018

Fab new Steampunk themed rubber stamps available now at the Blank Page Muse Stamps Store - a "Hybrid Bird Man" and a "Vintage Steampunk Man with Wings" - both available in 2 sizes.

I stamped these 2 characters onto linen finish card and coloured with copic markers and fussy cut ready for adding to the journal pages. Backgrounds are a mixture of old book pages, paint, inks, embossed card, stencils and texture paste, other Blank Page Muse rubber stamps, washi, metal embellishments, muslin cloth and probably more LOL!!! I also added torn "definitions" from a thesaurus - love using words and info from dictionaries, thesaurus' and encyclopaedias - always adds interest!

I am entering both of these pages in this months Dream in Darkness Challenge - it's always great to have a "darker" challenge blog to play at with these sorts of images!

  • Dreaming in Blue & White.....

    May 7th 2018
Playing along again this week at the Take a Word Blog with the theme of "Nostalgia".

I've created this page in one of my journals using a great Steampunk style gal by Gecko Galz. I printed her and fussy cut her and added to the page background with lace, paper doiley, corner charm, gemstones and gold "dream" wording. My venetian blinds were open when I took the pic but I decided I liked the sunlight shining on the page - LOL added to the nostalgia!

    E is for Engineering.....

    May 5th 2018

I'm guesting at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Blog for their new challenge today - theme "E is for Engineering" - fab steampunk theme!!! Pop over and see what the "sisters" have made and join the steamy theme!

I've created a page in my black journal and added part of an "industrial revolution" encyclopedia page and a dry embossed gear themed piece of card. Added some ink sprays and gold paint along with muslin cloth, cotton and cog style charm and some chalk to "rouge" up her cheeks LOL! AND of course the collage elements are from my most fav digital store "Art Tea Life" @ Etsy!

    Steamy Tags...

    July 20th 2017

Fun steampunk collaged tags made sometime ago for a swap group. Collage elements are from my fav Etsy Store "Art Tea Life" - check it out - lots of quirky sheets to create with!

Love the white cut out gears (received from a fellow crafter), added ribbon and lace to the tops of the tags, ink sprayed scraps of cloth and added large brass charms to the tags behind the collage pictures. Love to create a steampunk theme!

    Steamed Pumpkin...

    October 14th 2016

A great Steampunk Pumpkin image by Sandra Caldwell - available in her Etsy Store - #1009 Steampunk Jacko!!!! Such a fun image which I was lucky enough to win in one of Sandra's Facebook Group competitions!

I altered an index card for this creation - background is some flouro orange paint with a steampunk die cut which I had leftover from another creation and to which I added silver paint with my finger. Image coloured with copics and fussy cut plus I added a metal charm, sticky mesh and computer generated wording!

I'm entering this in the current Desert Islands Craft Blog challenge - I have used the following items from the itinerary: use a die cut, use paint, no pink and something metal!!!!

    Steampunk Snowy.....

    September 6th 2016

New release digi in Sandra's Store now - #1008 Steampunk Snowy - love this digi - so great to create a steampunk themed journal page! I used my black journal and added a cut out from my Silhouette plus some metallic ink sprays and paint - very happy with the effect. Added some charms and a gold border with "Smoosh". "Steamy" was coloured with pastel pencils and fussy cut and I added the gold sticker letters.

Who would have thought of a steampunk snowman other than Sandra???

    Full Metal Jacket

    June 20th 2016

Another new release day for Sandra Caldwell at her Etsy Store and this week I got to work with this fabulous #833 Steampunk Kitty digi!!! I love anything steampunk and this cat is very quirky!

I've altered an index card with a range of mixed media products! I started with an index card I had been using to "mop up" excess ink sprays - I then added some texture paste through a stencil and added more ink sprays. I edged the card with embossing fluid and used Stampendous Embossing Enamel powder and heat embossed. I had a leftover piece of steampunk gears cut from my Silhouette which I embossed with Ranger Embossing Antiquities Cement powder.

Cat image was coloured with copics and fussy cut then layered on the card with the embossed gears, computer generated wording and a steampunk charm which I added some chain to and a pin from a clothing label attached to the cat's vest. Very happy with the effect of this creation!!
