Michelle Perkett BINGO Challenge!

May 31st 2011

This week's challenge at the Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge Blog is BINGO!!!!
Here's the BINGO Board - the aim of the game is to use three things in a row from the board.

On my card I have used Pearls, Ribbon & a Die Cut! (I also used a brad and 2 backing papers!!)What will you choose?? You can enter here at the Challenge Blog.

Here is my card which was made using Michelle's "Lilly the Fairy of Enchantment" image and I've used the new sketch from The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog to layout my BINGO card.

My How Time Flies!

May 30th 2011

I've just discovered some new digis which I couldn't resist "nabbing"!!! Here's the link to Lily's Etsy Store.
This image is named "Steampunk Violet" and she appears to be trying to gather more hours in the day LOL!!
I've made this card for the new challenge at the Take a Word Blog "Wings" hence my "theme" of Time Flies when you are having fun??????

I added the cut out wings to the image. Violet has been coloured using earthy tone Copic markers. I sponged the back ground card in strips and used some unmounted stamps alternately in the strips. I printed out the wording and used a Spellbinder die cut to cut a tag and attached some fibre and I couldn't resist adding some little scissor charms to "match" the wording! I'm really happy with this cute little card!

I'm also going to enter Violet at the new Daring Cardmakers Challenge Blog as they have a new challenge entitled "Passion for Fashion" and I think Violet's visit to the hairdresser has certainly made her a fashion statement LOL!

Bright Star

May 29th 2011
This new card using the "Chloe with a String of Stars" digi from CS Designs uses the new sketch from the Card Patterns Challenge Blog.

I don't normally use bright orange colours but I had bought the gorgeous "bubbly" looking patterned paper and I decided to colour Chloe with orange copics! I quite like how it has turned out with the bright orange ribbon and co-ordinating textured cardstock and little star and circle punchies.

I think this card would make a great "non-traditional" Xmas card and I like non traditional Xmas!

What's Black & White & Red All Over????????

May 28th 2011
Well do you know the answer to the riddle???????

This is my new creation for the latest challenge at Take a Word - Theme: Zetti.
You would not believe but I bought three Teesha Moore Zetti stamps quite a few years ago and have NEVER taken them out of their packets LOL up until this week when I used two for this new challenge!!!!!
"Drinn Soarer" is the name of this amazing Zetti "Bird???" and I've also used the "Swirlies" stamp too! The background is made from torn bits of newspapers, old book pages and the like. This was a great theme and I'm so glad I "pulled out" my Zetti stamps at long last - better late than never!!!!

And for those of you that don't know the answer is a newspaper!!! Ha Ha!!

The Do You Stack Up Challenge Blog have an "Animals" Theme this week and I think my "Drinn Soarer" makes a great, if not 'alternate' animal for this challenge!!!!! And Drinn is making his way to the new challenge at the Allsorts Challenge Blog who have a "Things with Wings" theme this week! He's going to be busy flapping his wings this weekend!

Look Out Anya - Xmas is Coming!!

May 25th 2011

Poor little Anya is looking a little concerned that Xmas is coming quicker than she thought! I couldn't resist using this little CS Design Babushka for this new card using the latest Sketch Layout from the Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog.

As you can see I've used a few 'non-traditional' colours for this card as I had already coloured Anya. At the Bella Creations Community they have a Xmas Card Challenge which for the month of May requires the use of the colour blue and buttons - hence those additions to this card!
These Little Babushkas from CS Designs are just so versatile - I have used them for Easter "Eggs", Birthday Cards and now Xmas Cards and I have even more ideas for them as well!

Make Your Own Background!!

May 24th 2011
What a great challenge this week at the Michelle Perkett Studio Challenge Blog - make your own patterned paper!

I've made my background paper with folk art paints and a credit card plus some rubber stamps!

I have dragged blobs of coloured paint over my cardstock to give the effect you can see. Once the paint was dry I also stamped a floral rubber stamp over the paint and then I put the card through the printer and printed Michelle's beautiful "3 Graces Ballerinas" onto the decorated card. I've layered this onto a base card, added 3 paper roses and some fibres at the fold!

I love to 'play' with paint and it always gives such a great effect.

We would love to see how you make a patterned paper so please share your creations with us this week! But remember you need to use a Michelle Perkett Studio Image to enter!

CS Designs NEW Challenge for May!

May 23rd 2011

This week's challenge is the start of our Alphabet Challenge so it's the Letter "A". Anything you would like to make that relates to "A". You can find all the details at the Doodle Artifacts Blog and also our Papercraft Planet Group and Simply Scrapping Group so make sure you visit us and link your project for your chance to win some of Chris' amazing designs - remember to be eligible for a prize you need to use a CS Design.

I've made two Paper ART Dolls - one uses the face from Chris' Celestial Goddess Design and the other is the 'head' from one of her new Blossom Images. The 'bodies' are from some free patterns available at The Enchanted Gallery Site.

For this Art Doll I have used the "face" from the "Celestial Goddess" Design. I have sponged the background using a variety of my stamp pads and have used rubber stamps to add some more design to the doll. The sentiment "Dream a Little Dream" is also from CS Designs - I love this sentiment!

For my second Art Doll I have used one of Chris' new "Blossom" Designs and used her "head" for the doll. This has also been sponged but instead of stamping I printed the sentiment onto the card before cutting our the body for a different look. The string of flowers she is holding is from the same Blossom Design and compliments the sentiment.

I hadn't made any Art Dolls for a while so the Letter "A" gave me a great opportunity to do so! We would love to se what your "A" Creation is! Our other May challenges are still running so there is time to get your entries in for all 4 weekly challenges!

Another Great Challenge at CS Designs!

May 22nd 2011
There are several challenges running for May at the CS Designs Papercraft Planet Group and Simply Scrapbooking Site and the CS Designs Challenge Blog - Doodle Pieces.
This challenge is a Shape Challenge and requires you to use at least one semi-circle on your creation! As you can see on my card I have used small semi circles to make an edging for the corners of my card design. The digi image used here is "Lulu Goes Shopping" - she certainly has her hands full!

Here is a close up picture of Lulu and the little beaded dragonfly which I made using instructions from the Mirkwood Designs website - LOL I have so many little beads of all colours and sizes it was great to be able to put some to good use as I have had them for many years! I will definitely have to make some more of these cute little winged insects!

The layout of this card was done using the sketch from the latest Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog. The Cheerful Stamp Pad has a "Colour My World" theme and little Lulu has been coloured with Copic Markers. I am also going to enter this card in the new challenge at the Magical Monday Challenge Blog as they have a theme of  "white with one other colour" and as my card is white and purple little Lulu will fit in perfectly! Lulu is also making her way to the new challenge at the Desert Islands Crafters Challenge Blog as this card uses at least 7 out of the 10 items on their itinerary - patterned paper, glitter/bling, digi image, square card, embossing, die cuts and pearls!

Show me a Garden....

May 21st 2011

My second post for today but I couldn't resist making a card for the new challenge at The Daring Cardmakers Challenge Blog as they have a great new (and different!) challenge this week. The theme for their new challenge is to make a card based on the song "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol! What a great idea and one to make you think!

As you can see I've taken the lyrics "Show me a Garden that's bursting into life" and used this gorgeous new Flower Goddess image from Michelle Perkett Studio - you can purchase designs at her Etsy Store.

I have printed the design on linen look card which looks great coloured with copics and I've cut around the image and also added some stickles to the flowers for a bit of sparkle! I've printed the wording onto the patterned paper and have used a floral stamp top stamp a couple of pink images on the patterned paper and to fionish off have added some punched flowers in complimentary colours and a pink stickle centre.

This is such a beautiful image which would suit so many different occasions! I love the abundance of flowers on the image - fun to colour! And I didn't try to overdo the card with too many embellishments - I wanted to just stick to the simple flower punchies and let it speak for itself!

Can You Do The Bird Dance?

May 21st 2011
Well can you do the Bird Dance??????

I've made this tag for a few challenges (Bella Creations and the Three Muses)!

I've also entered this tag in the Gingersnap Creations GC102: Spicy Supply Challenge - Twine. The "theme" for May was Wild West and I think this dancing girl looks like she could have been on stage in a Wild West Saloon doing her stuff!! (I've incorporated "twine" to make the nest look more twiggy as you will see below).

The tag has been made as well for a challenge at the "Oh La La" Group at Bella Creations. We had to use the 'dancing lady' image from Gecko Galz on a tag or bookmark and as I had just finished cutting out some "bird" images from one of June's Collage sheets at Dezinaworld I came up with the idea of adding feathers to the woman and have her dancing on "eggshells" doing the bird dance!

The wording has been made with my DYMO Label Maker - nice and quick to print out and I like the effect of it. I used some household string and feathered it out to put behind the nest to give it a more 'twiggy' look.

The Three Muses new challenge is "Eggs" which is also why I wanted to incorporate the bird theme and use the nest and eggs from the collage sheet! Overall I'm really happy with this tag - I like the colours and it's a bit of fun!

We Can't All Be Stars!

May 12th 2011

Another wonderful new sentiment from CS Designs! "We can't all be Stars But we can all Twinkle"!
I've made a CAS card using the "Chloe with a String of Stars" image which fits perfectly with this new sentiment.

For this card I have used a pale blue Bazzil cardstock and printed the sentiment onto the base card. I have used my Spellbinder circles to cut the image and coloured Bazzill mount and adhered to the card. The image has been coloured with copics and some Stickles added to Chloe's wings and some little gold and blue stars added to the string of stars and also the star on the sentiment. I've used a corner punch to add a little bit of shape to the card corners.

The Darling "Bugs" of May!

May 19th 2011

What a great theme for the new challenge at The Daring Cardmakers Challenge Blog this week! Obviously the requirement was to incorporate some sort of a 'bug' LOL! I've chosen to use butterflies and I've made it into an Easel Card.

The little butterfly baby is from a collage sheet from Lisa's Altered Art - isn't it a gorgeous image? I've used patterned and plain papers to compliment the colours of the image and little butterflies. I've used a couple of leaf and flower punches to add some dimension as well. I found the butterfly quote at the Quote Garden site - a great resource for quotes on a huge range of 'subjects' and printed it directly onto the patterned paper and then arranged all the elements around it.

I've used Spellbinder Die Cuts to cut the 'label' shapes from black card and cream textured paper. The black card has been embossed with a Couture Creations Embossing Folder.

New Sketch Challenge at CS Designs!

May 18th 2011

We'd love you to come and join us at Papercraft Planet for this week's 'Sketch' challenge which has been designed by Melissa or visit the Doodle Pieces Blog for details and to enter as well (lots of options to join in the fun challenges!

But before you begin creating we have a "twist" to the sketch and that is that you must use a "sentiment" as the main feature of the card!! Now if you don't have any sentiments hop over to the CS Designs store and check out the fantastic new range of sentiments on sale - you won't be able to resist!

Here's my card using the "All You Need is Love" Sentiment and the Priscilla Cut Out image and as you can see I have turned the sketch around to lay out my card:

I've gone for a fairly clean look to this card by sticking to one patterened paper and black and white card. As the sentiment is the main feature I've printed out Priscilla quite small and haven't added any colour to the image.

We would love to see what you can create using this sketch - all the rules and regulations can be found at the Doodle Pieces Blog and our Papercraft Group Home! And you have plenty of time to enter as the challenge runs through until the 31st May. Check out our Colour Challenge and Shape Challenge too!

New Challenge at Michelle Perkett Studio

May 17th 2011
A great new challenge starts today at Michelle Perkett's Studio Challenge Blog - "Say it with Die Cuts"! A great theme with lots of different ways to look at this! Here's what I've done:

This card has been made using just a Sentiment from MPS "Imagine" which I have printed on some patterened paper from BasicGrey. The flowers are cut from the same BasicGrey pad using my brand new Spellbinder "Flower Creations 2" Die Cuts - I'm really happy with these and can't wait to play around some more! I love the earthy tones of these papers too. The butterflies which I love to use are also Spellbinder Die Cuts.

Make sure you visit the Challenge Blog for some more wonderful inspiration from the other Design Team Members for this week! And make sure you get your die cuts out and enter our challenge yourself - but remember you must use a Michelle Perkett Image available from her Etsy Store.

'Take a Word' New Challenge "ORIENTAL"

May 16th 2011
Make sure you visit the Take a Word Blog to enter the new challenge "Oriental" great word for this week! I love Oriental style anything !
Here's my creation as a "volunteer" designer this week for Take a Word - a little Asian Style Shrine:

I've made my little shrine using instructions from the Bella Creations Oh La La Group ATC Shrine Tutorial. The front of the shrine was made using a laminate sample to drag various coloured paint across a piece of card. Then I stamped the card (once it was dry!!) with an Asian Text stamp and cut out the required shape. I've also added a little Asian hanging embellisment to the bottom of the shrine.

The "inside" of the shrine which is a matchbox has been covered with a Asian style napkin and 3 gold coins tied with red ribbon (for luck!) have been glued inside. I've attached little paper flowers (which I thought looked a bit like cherry blossom) with brads.

This gorgeous Geisha image is from CS Designs and has been coloured with copics, cut out from it's 'frame' and then I have put a layer of Dimensional magic over the image to give it a glossy look.
I'm really happy with how my shrine has come up!

Michelle Perkett "Spring" Digi

May 14th 2011
Isn't this just a beautiful image from Michelle's range of digis?? I think she is gorgeous!

She has been coloured with copics and I've used my circle spellbinder die cuts to cut around the image. I've also made my own background paper by repeating the 'happy birthday' image on the page which I always think gives an effective but simple looking background. I printed 2 vases of flowers and coloured, cut out and mounted one complete image on the card and with the other I just coloured and cut out the flowers to add a bit of a border to the round image and I'm happy with the effect.

Bella Creations Collaborative Craft Pennant Alphabet

May 4th 2011
The following pictures are of my pennants made for a Bella Creations collaborative art project. I was allocated the letters "M" & "N". The theme of the pennants is "craft related".

My "M" Pennant is "Monotone" and I have used various shades of pink papers of different textures, a pink themed image from Dezinaworld & various pink coloured embellishments! I love pink and I'm really happy with the result.

My "N" Pennant is "Nature" and for this creation I have used some brown toned 'batik' look card, Dezinaworld images, and scraps of earthy coloured papers, scrabble letters, skeleton leaf and a sticker to divide the wording. I love the earthy colourings of this pennant.

There are some fantastic creations for this alphabet!
