The Smallest Things...

August 12th 2017

Sharing a baby boy card made with a fantastic little set of digis by Vera Lane Studio "Swaddle them" - such a cute set and perfect for either a baby boy or baby girl or one of each LOL!

The little baby is perfect for paper piecing as shown here and I just had to colour the face with copics. I used a pre printed and pre cut window card with a cute little teddy pattern. I printed the wording to fit behind the window - set comes with 2 phrases to use! I added some muslin cloth behind the baby and finished with a piece of blue lace tied at the spine. I also added an insert in matching teddy paper to the inside to write on. A nice quick and easy card when you need one in a hurry!

I am entering this card in the current "Cardz for Guyz" challenge which is to make a baby boy card - a perfect challenge for this!!

Spock Shakes It Up!!

July 26th 2016

A new challenge and my final week as Guest Designer at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog with a theme for this week of Make a Shaker Card!!

I've used this "Sir Spock" digi by Sandra Caldwell - available at her Etsy Store - one of my fav images so I couldn't resist the opportunity to use it again for this shaker card!!

Thanks to everyone at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog for having me as guest designer this month!

Cardz 4 Guyz Xmas in July Challenge...

July 12th 2016

My second creation as Guest DT at the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge Blog and this week's theme is "Christmas in July" - there are so many great images out there already for xmas so no excuse for not joining in with a male themed card for this challenge!

I've used 2 images from Sandra Caldwell's Etsy Store - firstly #472 Hanging Around Monkey teamed up with one of the digis from the #765 Christmas Gear Digi This and That Set 3 images. I've coloured the digis with copics and added to the front of a layered card. I love the ability to turn any image into a xmas image or image for any occasion and the set of xmas digis by Sandra make this possible - perfect and great for extending the uses of your digis!!

Cardz 4 Guyz : In The Country...

July 5th 2016

For the month of July I am Guest Designer at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog - I was guest designer about this time last year too - always love to have a challenge and create "male themed" cards! For this first week in July the theme is "In the Country"!!

Background paper was some left over I had from an "Aussie" card I made some time ago plus I added some hessian, sticky mesh, scrabble tiles "hee haw", silhouette fence and a string lasso!! Images coloured with Copics. I love the donkey over the fence - reminds me of Mr Ed the talking horse LOL!!

The 2 digi stamps I have used are by Sandra Caldwell and are available at her Etsy Store - #136 Mountain Man & #920 My Donkey.

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for this challenge!!

Rock 'N' Roll

June 18th 2016

A card made for the current Cardz 4 Guyz "Music" themed Challenge! I've used "#497 King" digi stamp by Sandra Caldwell - she does amazing images of famous people along with lots of other quirky digis!

I've made a mixed media background for the image using a Gecko Galz digital music sheet, texture paste and stencil, water soluble wax pastels and little cardboard letters. Image coloured with pastel pencils.

Here he is just coloured before I cut him out and added to the card:

Hey Cutie Pie!

June 3rd 2016

Another "Z" card for the current Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge using a gorgeous Zebra image from JessicaLynnOriginal - now I am very lucky to be sharing this image as this is a "preview" image which will be appearing at JLO in the future!!!!!

As you can see I have printed the image onto and old book page and used a sharpie to colour the stripes - simple but enough for this creation. Backing papers are collaged from old left over bits & pieces of black & white themed papers and card and fibre. The hey cutie pie wording was from an Art Tea Life collage sheet that I found cut out in my box of bits!!

Zilly Zebra says Happy Day to You........

June 1st 2016

Another new image released by Sandra in her Etsy Store today - "Zillly Zebra" available HERE. I bought several images today - couldn't resist. Sandra was very kind to put this one in the store for me today so I could make a card for the current "Letter Z" challenge at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog!!!

I printed the zebra onto an old book page and fussy cut then added to the top of a collage of black & white papers and fibres and the Dymo 'happy day' label - this is another of my playing around with the collage & staple creations - all papers attached with staples! A great way to use up bits & pieces and not procrastinate too long over the creation - still love the effect of the finished creation!!

A House is not a Home without a Dog!!

May 22nd 2016
A fun "houses" creation for a card swap for a little group I belong to!

Little "Pug" image is available at Sandra Caldwell's Etsy Store - I just printed him on Kraft paper and fussy cut! Collage houses are also available at Etsy and are by Kate Crane - they were perfect for this themed card. Background is Tim Holtz patterned tissue paper and paint. Quote is computer generated and printed on Kraft paper and cut out.

This card is perfect for the current challenge at the Cardz for Guyz Challenge Blog "Man's Best Friend" - I LOVE dogs - I have 3 of them and totally believe this quote to be true!!!!!

Just Giggle!

May 5th 2016

Just for a bit of fun and to enter the current Monochrome Challenge at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog!!

I've used a multitude of  bits & pieces from a little box of cut out collage images! Main image is "#45 Mr Mann" digi by Sandra Caldwell printed on kraft paper and fussy cut. And he has been "embellished" with a flowery hat and steampunk wings by Dezinaworld plus a little birdie and star want by Lisa's Altered Art along with a Beach sign from Art Tea Life and the fish was a freebie from Freubels Freebies LOL so much to see! Background index card was covered with torn book pages, texture paste, stencil & ink sprays. To finish off some washi tape in bottom corner, corner charm at the top, ink sprayed muslin and the giggle tag with added letters above - the aim of this card is to "Just Giggle"!!!!!!!

Above is a card I made with some great "farm" feel digital patterned papers available from Etsy at the Starglow Studio Store - fun papers and perfect for this card! As you can see I used my sewing machine to stitch all the card elements. Brentwood stamp and the fence stamp were coloured with colour pencils. The sentiment is also part of the set - a fun stamp!! Added some sticky mesh and bits of raffia type strands to look like straw!! AND I am entering this card in the current "Birds of a Feather" challenge at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog!!!!

Below is a set of 2 ATC's made with an ink sprayed and stencilled background, images stamped on white card and again coloured with colour pencils plus more of the "straw"!!! July 28th 2015

OMG what a fantastic theme this week at the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge Blog and for my last week as Guest Designer for July!!!! We want to see you make a card based on the Letter "T"!!!!

Well it's fairly obvious what my Letter "T" is: a T-REX!!!!!!! I had this amazing image from JessicaLynnOriginal and when I knew what the theme for this last week was I knew exactly what I was going to make!!! Patterned dinosaur themed papers are from the Graphic Express Etsy Store and I cut the T-Rex on the Silhouette. How perfect for a little dinosaur crazy boy!!!

Bet there will be some great "T" themed cards this week!!

Time for Xmas in July!!!!

July 21st 2015

How could we not have some sort of Christmas Challenge in July LOL!!! So this week at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog we look forward to seeing your "masculine" Christmas cards!!!!! Let's see what images you can come up with!

I've used a real cute little stamp - a little "Yorkie" dressed in a Santa Costume LOL!! I've made a mini card card on my Silhouette. I kept it fairly basic - just added the "xmas" letters in one row of holes, added the coloured stamp and bit of muslin and a single twine knotted around the spine.

Stamp is from JessicaLynnOriginal - of course - my favourite artist!!

Charlie is a Star......

July 14th 2015

A new week and new challenge at the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge Blog - a great theme and one to get you being creative - NO designer paper!!!!!

I made the background paper on this card with acrylic paint and a number stencil - love how the colours came out. I added some cut outs from my Silhouette to match the theme aloing with some sticky mesh, bakers twine & stickers to make the wording "star" and of course I just love the "Charlie Brentwood Owl" from JessicaLynnOriginal!

Should be some interesting entries for cards this week at the blog!

Cardz 4 Guyz : Sketch Challenge!

July 7th 2015

So exciting this month to be a Guest Designer at the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge Blog - I've been on the GDT for them before and loved it - so great to challenge yourself to make cards for the male species LOL!!!!

As you can see from the title you need to use the sketch at the blog to create your manly card for this week!

I have used a fantastic "St Bernard" stamp from the Working Dog Set available at JessicaLynnOriginal - great stamps in this set - if you are a dog lover well worth getting your hands on!! I coloured him with coloured pencils and teamed him up with the great patterned dog themed paper from Cocoamint Etsy Store - paper set called A Dogs Life - LOL perfect for this card!!! Cut the bone and Happy Banner on my Silhouette. Can you tell I am a dog lover?????

Cannot wait to see the entries for this week!

Summer of Colour Week 1: blue+blue+green

June 10th 2015

Oh wow do I love how this turned out!! I've made this for 2 things - firstly the Summer of Colour has started again over at Kristin's Twinkle Twinkle Blog and this year the theme is "Colour by Number" and for this first week the "formula" is: 1 blue + 1 blue + 1 green! Green and blue are not often colours I use lots of but I'm really happy with how this all looks.

I've also added lots of texture to my card so I can enter at the "Texture" themed challenge at the Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge this week!

I sprayed the background with 2 shades of blue and one of green and spritzed with water and then added some paw prints with texture paste and resprayed the prints with green to make them stand out. I tore some scraps of paw print dog paper and layered them then sprayed those too for more colour. to finish I added some sticky builders mesh, sprayed muslin cloth, cut the bones and "woof" on the Silhouette and then of course my favourite little Pitt Bull Stamp from my favourite artist JessicaLynnOriginal coloured with Copic Markers - of course I did a 2-toned blue scarf for the Summer of Colour theme LOL!!!

Kookaburra says "G'day".......

June 6th 2015

The current challenge at the Cardz 4 Guyz Blog is "Birds" so I really wanted to use this special Kookaburra image again for a real Aussie creation!!!!! Jessica from JessicaLynnOriginal drew this especially for me some time ago - you may have seen it here on my blog before but a great excuse today to print it off and turn it into an outback card with some great papers from an Aussie Etsy Store "Sassaby"!

Ahoy!!

May 1st 2013

Wow can you believe it's already May???? Time for a new challenge at Wicked Wednesday - "Sun & Surf" - with this weeks sponsor being 2 Cute Ink - as always our generous sponsor is giving you the chance to win some images! It's Autumn here and the weather is getting cooler so I look forward to seeing some "sunny" creations for this challenge!

Now I thought this ATC was so cute that I wanted to make it into a card - great for a little boy! I used the current sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches to layout the card - it's fairly simple but I think the ATC has a bit of detail and is the main focus anyway. I am also entering this card in the current Cards for Men Challenge (cards must be for a man or boy) - their challenge is "Animals" and as this cute little lion is the centre of attention it's just perfect!
